Prosthesis Fittings: As a fully trained and qualified Bra and undergarment fitter for many years I recognised there was a need in Central Otago & Districts for a fitter/supplier in the Area. Following Breast Surgery many women find it difficult to travel the distance to a store in a city to be fitted with a prosthesis or wait for someone to come from Auckland or another are area. During my time fitting the Jeunique Bra, specialist undergarments, & ShapeWear I met many cancer clients of all ages and it was through these meeting I was convinced I had the products, skills and desire to help make it easier for women .

The Goal of the service is to reach all women who have undergone breast cancer surgery whether that surgery was recent (a few months ago or 5, 10, 15 years ago).

After researching the possibilities of setting up the service I trained with Mary McAvoy of Medical Matters who owns a Wellington based company and markets a German product to selected stockists and specialist fitters... Mary herself is a breast cancer survivor

Fitting women with breast prosthesis and bras requires special training. As a specialist fitter I will attend to you in a comfortable, warm, quiet and private room in my home, or in the comfort of your own home if required... I will guide you through the process of being fitted, show the options available to you, explain the product care and make sure you feel relaxed, at ease and well informed.

I am registered with The Ministry of Health as a Provider and can deal with your Subsidy claims.

You are entitled to a subsidy for breast prosthesis and I can fill out this paper work for you if you prefer. The current subsidy is $600, rolling over every four years as long as you have not had breast reconstruction. The subsidy is administered by Healthpac and is available to New Zealand Citizens or those ordinarily resident in New Zealand. It will cover the cost of the following:

Breast prosthesis or breast forms (these may include swim form, shell prosthesis and lumpectomy shells
Special Bras to hold the Breast Prosthesis or breast forms
Surgical Bras and normal bras
Modifications to swimwear to hold prosthesis or breast form
Prosthetic nipples

Having a properly fitted bra is not just about comfort but, more importantly about health.

The Jeunique bra will naturally and comfortably hold your prosthesis, does not have under wires or stretch straps which can cause back and shoulder strain. It will support your breast form, and posture and comes in three colours. It is a custom fit bra and I carry sizes from 30A through to 46KK
